THE FOURTH BOOK IN THE ENTHRALLING SERIES FOLLOWING THE FASCINATING LIVES OF BETH AND ALEX MACGREGOR, THEIR FAMILY AND FRIENDS
It is 1745 and the rebellion that the Jacobites have worked towards for so many years is finally under way. Prince Charles is in Scotland gathering the clans and they are rising, ready to fight and if necessary, die for him.
At his prince’s command, Alex, trapped by his own success as a spy, reluctantly remains in London with Beth. His clansmen meanwhile head north to join the rebels.
Desperately unhappy, the couple try to convince themselves that their role is crucial to the cause, but hope that Charles will relent and allow them to leave London and join him.
Their wish is granted, but not in the way they expect, and soon they find themselves fleeing for their lives.
In the meantime the Jacobites are gathering strength and heading south, winning decisive victories along the way. It seems that Prince Charles Edward Stuart and his followers will finally achieve their desire to regain the throne of Great Britain for King James. But the Duke of Cumberland is determined not to let his father be toppled from the throne by a bunch of heathen savages, and returns from Flanders to lead the Hanoverian army against them.
Soon Beth and Alex find themselves at the heart of one of the most brutal civil wars Britain has ever seen, one which will put both their lives and relationship in danger, and which will change the history of Britain forever.
JOIN THE REBELLION OF BETH, ALEX AND THE MACGREGORS AS THEY FIGHT FOR JUSTICE AND FREEDOM IN THE JACOBITE CHRONICLES

This fourth book of the series takes u s through a series if major battles in 1745 Jacobite Rebellion from Edinburgh to Culloden. I was absolutely riveted by the detail and description the author lays out. Not for the light of heart, seriously. All the while we are also following the domestic relationships of the MacGregor Clan Chieftain and his English wife Beth as well as his brothers and other clan members. Some of the scenes depicted are heart wrenching; some sickening; some terrifying. We get both political sides and their varying opinions as well as those families and friends severed by ideology and/or on the fence for personal reasons. By the end if this fascinating book I feel numbed by the desolation of war and loss. Julia Brannan is an amazing author, and I highly recommend this outstanding series. I can barely wait for book five.Product details

The Storm Breaks The Jacobite Chronicles Book 4 edition by Julia Brannan Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Love this series, I have read all five so far of the series. This one is not my favorite although is exceptionally good reading. I think the first book was my absolute favorite and the last one number five leaves me anxious till the next one comes out.
Loved this latest book in the Jacobite Chronicle. Very good writing, and my goodness what a cliff hanger. Can hardly wait for the next book to come out. Thank you Julia Brannan, for your creative work and lovable characters.
There are absolutely no words to describe how I felt after reading this one. Absolutely None! Buy it see for yourself. Plot twist of the century. Just wow. You will need a bottle of wine afterwards though.
I love this series. I appreciate when a writer bring history to life and be historically accurate as well. An emotional story that had me crying and laughing throughout. I can't wait for the 5th book coming this summer. Too far away!
Once again, Ms. Brennan doesn't disappoint. Her rare writing style has you as a "fly on the wall" during the Jacobite Rebellion. You'll find yourself holding your breath, crying, and praying for the characters. Although fiction, you can't help but notice her effort of research to make this historically accurate. If you have been so unfortunate as to have missed the previous books in this series I strongly recommend you buy them all.
This is a fantastic series. Beth experiencing storms of fear about Anne's safety & that of the baby. The fear of Beth's extended family in London as to Beth & Anthony's disappearance along with the prospect of social ruination due to their connection. Beth & Alex experience a storm in their marriage because Beth failed to reveal the scope of Richard's attack on her prior to their marriage. Finally there were storms of leadership between Prince Charles & Lord George Murray. All these events interlock to reveal results and strategies in the forthcoming battles.
Being a historical fiction, we know (or can easily discover) how this story ends, but I've grown so attached to this cast of characters that a little part of me was hopeful that it wouldn't have to end that way certain ways for several of the characters (although to be believable for the event I understand). The description of the battles are done well - Brannan doesn't shy away from the honesty or gore of battle, but knows where to draw the line, so it does not detract from the story. I also like that we see many points of views, but in a way that enhances the story and helps make the turmoil of the period more apparent. There are still quite a few loose ends and I am pleased there is another book in the series (I originally thought this might be where she chose to end it and I'm glad it is not). I am curious to see how it all ends, but am also very nervous. Was not quite expecting certain events of the last few chapters and have decided to not truly process my feelings on them until I continue/finish the series; however, I've rarely emotionally reacted so frequently to a book (laughing, near tear). Only wish the very ending wasn't such a cliche to books about Highlanders, but look forward to seeing how this series concludes.
